Dangerous Goods by Sea –Initial
3 Days
This course is based on the IMDG Code, which are the rules established by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). All shippers and their agents, offering Dangerous Goods to Shipping lines, are required to comply with this code and are therefore required to have knowledge of the use of the IMDG Code for identifying substances and applying the correct packaging, marking, labeling and documentation for Dangerous Goods.
The following subjects are covered:

International Conventions for the Safety of Life at Sea.

International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from vessels.
-
Classification of hazards.
-
Correct packaging, marking and labeling of packages and containers.

Correct completion of the Multi-modal Shippers’ Declaration.
-
Containerization of dangerous goods including segregation.
-
Stowage and securing of cargo.
At the end of the course the candidates will be expected to complete an examination. The required pass mark is 80% - on successful completion an internationally recognized certificate is issued.

Dangerous Goods by Sea –Recurrent
2 Days
A two day re-validation course is available for those personnel who are already certified in this field.
Delegates must still hold a current certificate in order to qualify for this course. The same topics are covered as for the initial course.
At the end of the course the candidates will be expected to complete an examination. The required pass mark is 80% - on successful completion an internationally recognized certificate is issued.
